The German Institute works in various scientific projects in the field of Emergency and Disaster Medicine.
Some of the topics are:
NBC-Threats:
The threats of terroristic acts comprising nuclear, biological or chemical materials are a great challenge for healthcare providers and society. The German Institute develops practical concepts on how to best deal with these threats.
Decontamination (prehospital and in the hospital):
Most healthcare providers acknowledge the need for improvement in this field. In many cases, contaminated patients not only cause a problem in choosing the right therapy, but also in transportation and logistic once they reach the hospital. The German Institute offers practical training and courses on how to best deal with these challenges. Trainings are offered not only in Germany, but also worldwide (in your home country as well).
For enquiries about training opportunities in your home country, please send an email to: info@disaster-medicine.com
Tele-medicine:
Due to the improved dataflow capacities, today's technical developments allow totally new concepts of communication, treatment, and diagnostics. This will definitely cause a revolution in the medical field.
Especially in Emergency and Disaster Medicine where distances are often a concern, these developments will provide great advantages. The German Institute offers practical on how to make the best use of these new technologies.
Virtual Reality and eLearning:
Today, virtual reality and eLearning offer great opportunities, especially in the field of Emergency and Disaster Medicine, where rare incidents have huge and often inpredictable effects. Thus, simulations, virtual reality, and eLearning are the methods of choice in science and training in Disaster Medicine.
Landmines:
Every day, landmines kill and hurt incountable numers of inncocent people, very often children.
The German Institute for Disaster Medicine is hosting the Landmine Task Force of the World Association for Emergency and Disaster Medicine (WADEM). Head of this task force is Dr. B. Schneider MD, EMDM. The Institute strongly supports the bann of landmines, and will extend its efforts in this field. |
